After watching Zillow and Realtor.com for weeks and checking out a lot of properties, Jennifer found a listing that seemed too good to be true. We dropped everything and drove the 90 minutes from Delano to Townsend to look at the .94 acre lot in the Laurel Valley community. The first thing I noticed was a big tree-covered hill. Most of the other properties we looked at were small (.35 acre) and dropped-off very steep from the road. The cabins in these areas were built on stilts to accommodate the steep terrain. Of course, in the mountains, it’s hard to get a good view unless the terrain is steep so you can look above the trees. Anyway, back to our big hill. We parked the car and started up. Near the top, we turned around and saw (through the trees) the potential for a panoramic view of the Smoky Mountains. This lot was special. It would take a lot of work but it was the one! On July 30, 2021 we signed the papers and the lot was ours. Yay!
