9/10/21: We See Our View for the First Time!

We hired Mitch Carpenter with Smoky Mountain Contractors to cut some trees and open up our view. On Sept 10, Mitch called and said the majority of the work was done and we should come up to see the view. It was better than expected. To the left was the classic “Smoky Mountain View” with layers of mountains including Mount LeConte and Clingmans Dome. To the right was Rich Mountain in all it’s glory. (By the way, Cades Cove is just on the other side of Rich Mountain.) Let’s just say that Jennifer started crying when she walked to the top of the hill and turned around. It is one of those breathtaking views you could admire all day. We now face the decision of whether to point the wall of windows toward Rich Mountain or toward the layers of mountains. We decided to wait until Winter (when the view really opens up) to make our final decision of the cabin’s orientation.
