The plan sounded good. The mountain view on our property faces east and we want to orient the cabin so it catches the sunrise view. So the plan was to wake up at 5:00 AM and drive up to Townsend to watch the sunrise on our property. As we approached Maryville and looked east, we could see the sun starting to light up the morning sky and our anticipation grew. However, as we approached Townsend we met up with an unexpected nemesis…FOG! Oh no…hadn’t thought about that! So, we climbed our hill and sat around for about 30 minutes and the fog…got thicker. Then I got a great idea. Why don’t we head over to Cades Cove and drive the 11 mile loop road? When we get back, the fog will be gone. So, off we went. Until we saw the sign…CADES COVE LOOP ROAD CLOSED. Yep…closed for repaving until Tuesday, Sept 28th. Sometimes you take a road trip where everything seems to go wrong. So, we headed back home to Delano and back to bed.
